Current Students

Students who are currently enrolled at Riverwalk Academy are required to reenroll annually to reserve their child’s seat for the next school year. On January 22, 2024, every enrolled family received an email (to the email address we have on file) with instructions on completing the re-enrollment process. To save your seat for the 2024 - 2025 school year, every family needs to complete the re-enrollment process by February 2nd, 2024. The website found in this letter is here. Enrollment

Riverwalk Academy is a public charter school in the South Carolina Public Charter School District that is open to all South Carolina Residents. Students will be admitted without regard to race, religion, gender, creed, national origin, disability, ancestry, need for special education or itinerant services, or socioeconomic condition. Expelled students will not be admitted according to the policy of the SCPCSD.  Please complete one online enrollment application for each student you wish to be considered for enrollment for the 2024 - 2025 school year. Do NOT submit multiple children in one form.

Enrollment Lottery

The Riverwalk Academy lottery is conducted in February for the upcoming school year.   The lottery process will only be used if the number of applicants exceeds the capacity of a class or grade level,  To be considered in the lottery, online applications (link below) must be submitted beginning November 13th, 2023 and received on or before 11:59 pm on February 22nd, 2024.  The next Riverwalk Academy Public Lottery will be held in February 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year.  Lottery winners will be notified via email on or before March 1, 2024 with the enrollment packet attached.

Riverwalk Academy will continue to take applications after the lottery occurs and throughout the year. These applications are date and time stamped and placed in the order they are received and will be placed at the end of any applicable waiting list.  Riverwalk Academy does not enroll High School students after the first 10 days of each semester (fall and spring). 

Pursuant to SC Charter School law, Riverwalk Academy will afford priority enrollment status to siblings of a pupil currently enrolled and attending, children of charter school employees and board members, Priority enrollment status does not guarantee any student admission to Riverwalk Academy, as acceptance remains based on space availability in each applicable grade.

PLEASE NOTE: Waiting lists DO NOT carry over from year-to-year, and are only valid for the school year in which the student has applied.  If a student is not accepted for the current school year, and remains on the waiting list, they will need to reapply for the following school year, whether it be during the lottery application period or after the lottery deadline, in order to be considered for acceptance for the following school year.

Additional Information

Selected students who choose to attend Riverwalk Academy must fully complete and submit the online enrollment registration by March 2023. Students who do not enroll within the designated period will be withdrawn from the accepted enrollment list and must re-apply if they wish to attend Riverwalk Academy for the 2024-2025 school year. Every effort will be made to reach each student. The student enrollment package will require proof of South Carolina residency, immunization records along with a copy of the child’s birth certificate.

***A child MUST be five on or before September 1 to enroll in Kindergarten and six on or before September 1 to enroll in First Grade, as per SC state law.
